Geotechnical Modelling of the Behaviour of Piles

چکیده

Comprehensive geotechnical modelling of the behaviour of piles generally encounters setbacks: in preparing model bed simulating field conditions, of specific and uniform shear strength, and reproduction for repetitions. Due to such limitations in traditional practices, information on the complex mechanism of shaft-base resistance interaction is not adequately known. Other outcomes are: varied recommendations on adhesion or reduction factor for determination of shaft resistance, empiricism in the choice of Factor of Safety for determination of safe bearing capacity, and empirical group efficiency. Solutions to these problems are attempted and an approach to comprehensive geotechnical modelling of pile is presented using ‘Artificial Soil’ .
